Architect in charge: Pablo Meninato
Location: Province of Buenos Aires
Program: single family house
The house was intended to be simultaneously simple and complex. The front is simple, hermetic and seemingly predictable. The rear is open, and intricate. The spatial layout pursues a balance between continuous (modern) and partitioned space. Both the living room and dining room are simple and austere, while the playroom and breakfast areas are open and informal.
The rear porch facing the garden and swimming pool is one of the most characteristic spaces of Argentine culture (a persistent typology), an intermediate space accessible both from the outside and the inside.
In the roof design is where the idea of the house can be best appreciated: simple and complex, familiar and novel.
